

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil and requested full support from the Centre for the timely completion of the Polavaram Project before the Godavari Pushkaralu. The Chief Minister urged the Centre to facilitate construction works required to store water up to 41.15 meters in the first phase and appealed for the withdrawal of the stop-work order. He also sought reimbursement of funds spent on increasing canal capacity and requested ₹285 crore for water resource restoration projects.
Chandrababu further informed the Union Minister that the state government would undertake construction of the right-side head sluice and requested directions to Odisha for speedy land acquisition related to the project. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu stated that the Polavaram Project would be completed by June 2027 and later dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chandrababu Naidu, and C.R. Patil. He also criticized the previous YSRCP government for neglecting irrigation infrastructure and stressed that linking the Godavari and Cauvery rivers would help resolve long-term water issues.
