Bonalu Festival Celebrated Grandly - Minister Konda Surekha

The Ashada Bonalu festival, a symbol of Telangana’s rich culture and traditions, concluded on a grand note with devotion and spiritual fervour, Minister Konda Surekha said. The celebrations began on July 16 with the first Bonam offered to Goddess Jagadambika Mahankali at Golconda Fort and concluded on August 13 with the Maha Kumbharathi. The month-long festivities featured traditional rituals, Shivasattulu performances, Pothuraju dances, folk art displays, elephant processions, Rangam and Ghatotsavam.

The minister said the state government, following the directions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, made extensive arrangements in coordination with various departments to ensure devotees faced no inconvenience. The festival was organised with an allocation of Rs 20 crore, while police, GHMC, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, healthcare, traffic and water board departments worked together across Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. Surekha said Bonalu represents Telangana’s unity in diversity and the Ganga-Jamuna cultural tradition, and prayed for peace, prosperity, good health and happiness for people across the state.
