Two fishing boats from Andhra Pradesh went missing in separate locations while out at sea. One boat was stranded near Puri on the Odisha coast, while the other encountered trouble about 10 nautical miles off the Visakhapatnam coast. A total of 16 fishermen were on board the two boats, most of them from Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district.
Nine fishermen safely reached the Puri coast after rescue efforts, while another fisherman, Chinna, was rescued by a Chinese cargo ship. Andhra Pradesh Minister Atchannaidu confirmed that all rescued fishermen are safe and said arrangements are being made to transport them back to their native places.
Search operations are continuing to trace the remaining six missing fishermen. Teams from the Indian Coast Guard, the Navy, and the Marine Police are jointly carrying out intensive rescue operations. Officials were alerted after a video released by the stranded fishermen went viral, prompting swift coordination with the Odisha authorities.
