AP Employees Protest Over DA and PRC Arrears

Government employees in Andhra Pradesh staged protests demanding resolution of their long-pending issues. Employee groups questioned the government over pending dues, including Interim Relief (IR), Pay Revision Commission (PRC) benefits and five Dearness Allowances (DAs), which they claimed together amounted to around Rs 40,000 crore. Village and Ward Secretariat employees raised demands for notional increments, Junior Assistant-level status, opportunities for appointments in their respective mandals and cancellation of GO 11. Despite restrictions imposed by police, the employees continued their protests. They alleged that police personnel prevented them from proceeding and forcibly removed some women employees at certain locations.

The employees staged sit-ins on roads despite the intense heat, demanding that their grievances be addressed. They questioned the restrictions imposed on employees who had gathered to present their concerns to the government. Employee groups also alleged that several protesters were taken to different police stations and were denied food, water and access to basic facilities. They said cases had been registered against around 70 employees. The employee groups warned that their agitation would continue until their demands were addressed. As part of their protest, they announced plans to submit petitions to district collectors across Andhra Pradesh today.
