Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri clarified concerns surrounding E20 fuel (ethanol-blended petrol), stating that while there may be a slight drop in vehicle mileage, the reduction is minimal. He emphasized that mileage depends on factors such as vehicle condition, driving habits, and road conditions, and the impact of E20 is not significant.

Meanwhile, Puri revealed that oil marketing companies have incurred losses of ₹74,781 crore after selling petrol, diesel, and LPG below cost during the spike in global crude oil prices triggered by the West Asia conflict. Although international prices have eased recently, companies are still processing crude purchased earlier at higher rates, reflecting continued financial pressure.
