Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced plans to establish a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Maharashtra as part of its expansion strategy in India. The upcoming plant, which will have an annual production capacity of one lakh vehicles, is expected to transform the industrial landscape of the region and create thousands of employment opportunities. The facility will reportedly be set up in the Bidkin Industrial Area near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
According to the company, the plant will directly generate employment for around 2,800 people and is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2029. Toyota plans to focus mainly on manufacturing new SUV models at the facility, considering the growing demand for SUVs in the Indian market. The company stated that the plant could also emerge as an export hub in the future. Officials added that the investment would strengthen Maharashtra’s position as a major automobile hub and boost local economic growth and ancillary industries.
