Indian equity markets extended their losing streak to a seventh consecutive week, with the Nifty 50 closing at 23,140.50 for the week ended September 25. Rising crude oil prices, elevated US bond yields and continued foreign investor selling weighed on sentiment, while buying by domestic institutional investors provided some support. The Nifty’s 23,000 level remains an important technical support, while 23,250–23,400 are being watched as resistance levels.
According to market expert Murthy Naidu Padam, investors should remain cautious amid the current uncertainty and focus on quality stocks in relatively defensive sectors such as FMCG, auto and pharma. He identified Granules, SG Finserv, Qupid, Skipper and Bajaj Consumer as stocks to watch, citing their technical setups and business performance. His suggested entry, target and stop-loss levels are: Granules above ₹860, target ₹925, stop-loss ₹845; SG Finserv above ₹600, target ₹675, stop-loss ₹580; Qupid above ₹260, target ₹310, stop-loss ₹250; Skipper above ₹550, target ₹625, stop-loss ₹525; and Bajaj Consumer above ₹490, target ₹625, stop-loss ₹480.
