Reliance Enters the Defence Sector

Reliance Industries has entered the defence sector through a strategic partnership with British aerospace engine major Rolls-Royce. The two companies plan to jointly develop advanced fighter aircraft engines for India’s ambitious Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme.

As part of the partnership, the companies are planning to establish a dedicated aerospace gas turbine complex in India. The facility is expected to strengthen domestic capabilities in the design, manufacturing and testing of aircraft engines. Reliance Executive Director Anant Ambani said the partnership would combine Rolls-Royce’s engineering expertise with Reliance’s manufacturing and technology capabilities to build a strong aero engine ecosystem in India. Both companies described the agreement as an important step towards strengthening India’s defence and supporting the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision.
