InterGlobe Aviation, which operates flights under the IndiGo brand, has introduced a new fare option called “IndiGo Light” for passengers travelling with minimal baggage. This scheme allows travellers carrying only cabin baggage to fly at lower ticket prices compared to regular economy fares. The offer is applicable on both domestic and international direct flights and aims to make air travel more affordable and accessible.
Under the IndiGo Light fare, passengers are allowed to carry only up to 7 kg of cabin baggage, with no check-in baggage included. Seats are automatically assigned without any additional charge. The airline stated that this model is designed to ensure passengers pay only for the services they use. Bookings are available exclusively through the IndiGo app and website. Meanwhile, Air India Express has also introduced a similar “Air India Light” fare for cabin-only travellers. IndiGo currently operates around 2,100 flights daily.
