

India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections increased 14.7% year-on-year to ₹2,03,521 crore in September 2026, according to government data released on Thursday. Revenue from domestic transactions rose 10.1% to ₹1,37,996 crore, while GST collected on imports increased 26% to ₹65,525 crore. GST refunds declined 3% year-on-year to ₹27,001 crore. After accounting for refunds, net GST collections rose 18.1% to ₹1,76,520 crore.
During the first six months of the current financial year, from April to September, gross GST collections increased 11.6% to ₹12.46 lakh crore, while net collections rose 10.4% to ₹10.66 lakh crore. Telangana recorded an 18% year-on-year increase in domestic GST revenue, with collections rising to ₹5,327 crore in September from ₹4,512 crore a year earlier. Among major states, Maharashtra recorded the highest collection at ₹29,986 crore, followed by Karnataka and Gujarat.
