Brazil-based aerospace major Embraer has secured type certification from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for three of its commercial aircraft — the E195-E2, E190, and E195. This approval marks a significant step for Embraer in expanding its presence in the Indian aviation market. Notably, the Embraer E175 aircraft, currently in service with regional carrier Star Air, had already received DGCA certification earlier.
Welcoming the development, Embraer Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Raul Villaron expressed gratitude to the DGCA for its detailed and rigorous evaluation process. Type certification is a crucial regulatory approval that confirms an aircraft’s design, safety, and operational capabilities meet required aviation standards before entering service.
