Indian origin entrepreneur Vishal Garg, who faced widespread criticism after announcing the dismissal of around 900 employees during a Zoom call in 2021, has now lost his CEO position at fintech company Better. Board director Daniel Lewis has taken over as interim CEO. Garg, however, has alleged that Lewis persuaded other board members to remove him from the position.
Garg said he had trusted Lewis and brought him onto the board because of his plans to reduce costs and improve the company’s financial position. However, Garg alleges that Lewis moved to replace him shortly after joining the board. He reportedly feels betrayed by the development and is seeking to be reinstated as CEO. Garg is also expected to consider legal action over his removal.
