German luxury automobile manufacturer BMW has announced a global recall of approximately 575,000 vehicles due to a potential fire risk linked to engine starter defects. According to company officials, the issue affects 16 models produced between 2020 and 2022. The recall follows internal quality inspections and customer complaints that revealed technical flaws in the starter motor system.
BMW stated that repeated attempts to start the engine could cause wear in the magnetic switches within the starter mechanism, making it difficult for the vehicle to start. In rare cases, the defect may increase the risk of a fire. The company has initiated corrective measures and is expected to contact affected customers to address the issue promptly.
