Private-sector banking major HDFC Bank has appointed Anup Bagchi as its next Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The bank’s board approved his appointment, which has also received clearance from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Bagchi will serve a three-year term and will take charge as MD and CEO on October 27, 2026.
The bank’s current MD and CEO, Sashidhar Jagdishan, will complete his tenure on October 26, 2026. Jagdishan had decided not to seek consideration for reappointment, following which the bank’s board initiated the process to identify his successor. Bagchi is currently the MD and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance.
