OpenAI has released a report suggesting how global governments should shape policies in the age of artificial intelligence to ensure that power and benefits are not concentrated among a few. The report highlights the need for an open economy, equal distribution of AI-driven prosperity, and building a resilient society to handle potential risks. It stresses that as the world moves towards superintelligence, decisions made now will have long-term impacts on how benefits and risks are shared.
The report also focuses heavily on workers’ welfare, proposing measures like a four-day workweek without pay cuts, increased benefits, and better social security systems. It suggests reforms in taxation, including higher taxes on corporate profits and capital gains instead of labour income. Additionally, it calls for making AI access more widespread, creating public wealth funds, and generating new job opportunities in sectors like healthcare, education, and community services to support those affected by AI-driven changes.
