WhatsApp continues to introduce new features to improve user experience and security. The messaging platform has reportedly introduced a new Restricted Chat feature designed to provide an additional layer of privacy for personal conversations. The feature is currently available in the beta version and is expected to roll out to regular Android users in the coming days. It could be particularly useful for people who access WhatsApp Web on office computers and laptops, where others may have access to the same devices. The feature aims to help users keep sensitive conversations private and reduce the risk of unauthorised access.
To enable the feature, users need to open the profile of the contact whose conversation they want to protect and activate the Restricted Chat option. It can be disabled whenever necessary. Restricted chats are designed to remain inaccessible on linked devices, while photos and videos received in these conversations are not automatically saved to the phone’s gallery. Users also cannot export these chats, and Meta AI features will not be available within them, according to the information provided. The feature is expected to benefit users who want an additional level of privacy for their personal and sensitive conversations. Availability may vary depending on the app version and rollout status.
