WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature on its Android app that adds advanced filters to make browsing shared content easier. According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging platform is experimenting with a redesigned interface that lets users quickly review shared photos, videos, and other media within a chat using new filtering tools. The update is also expected to introduce a sticker filter, helping users search and find specific stickers more efficiently. The new filters were first spotted in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.25.31.10. Although this update is tagged as compatible, some users might also get access through earlier beta versions. The revamped design appears in the Media, Links, and Documents section within the chat info page, offering a clearer view of shared files.
Unlike the old layout with tabs, users can now switch between Photos, Videos, Documents, and Links using chip-style filters. A Stickers option has been added beside these, giving users more precise control over media discovery in conversations. At present, the feature is still under development and is being tested by users enrolled in the Google Play Beta Program. Like most WhatsApp features, it will likely have a phased rollout, meaning not everyone will see it immediately even after updating to the latest beta version. A broader rollout for testing is expected in the coming weeks.
