Warangal Micro Artist Ajay Kumar’s Artwork Set to Travel to Space

Warangal-based micro artist Ajay Kumar has created history by becoming the first Indian artist whose miniature artwork will travel to space. Skyroot Aerospace officially announced that his micro artworks will be carried aboard the Vikram-1 rocket during its space mission scheduled between July 12 and August 4. This achievement places Indian micro art among a select few artworks that have journeyed beyond Earth.

Ajay Kumar spent nearly 140 hours crafting intricate portraits of Nobel laureate C.V. Raman, space scientist Vikram Sarabhai, and former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam inside the eye of a needle. The artworks were created using stainless steel, 24-carat gold, silver, ceramic powder, and carbon fiber powder. Expressing his happiness, Ajay said this recognition is a proud milestone for the art he has pursued for over four decades.
