Spam calls have become a major nuisance for mobile users. Daily calls related to loans, credit cards, insurance, and banking, along with fraudulent scam calls, have increased significantly. Even after blocking one number, spam callers continue to harass users from new numbers, causing constant irritation. Such calls are especially frustrating when they interrupt work or arrive during travel.
To address this growing problem, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has introduced strict measures. Financial institutions have been directed to use dedicated numbers, and a special solution has been launched to help users control spam calls. This initiative allows mobile users to decide which types of calls they want to receive.
As part of this effort, TRAI has launched the “Do Not Disturb” (DND) 3.0 app. Through this app, users can manage call preferences and block unwanted promotional calls. It also enables users to directly report spam calls and messages to TRAI. Since it is a government-backed app, data security and privacy are ensured.
Users can download the TRAI DND 3.0 app from the Google Play Store and verify their mobile number using an OTP. After registering on the DND registry, users can customize settings and file complaints against spam calls or messages. The status of complaints can be tracked within the app itself. Additionally, users can report spam by calling 1909 or by visiting the cybercrime.gov.in website.
