Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has cautioned that businesses using artificial intelligence technologies may unknowingly be handing over their most valuable proprietary data. He explained that while companies are paying heavily to access powerful AI models, they are also feeding these systems with their own internal knowledge to improve performance. Nadella described this emerging challenge as the “Reverse Information Paradox” in a post on the social media platform X, highlighting how users must reveal critical information to extract value from AI systems.
He further noted that AI models continuously learn from user prompts, tools, and corrections, gradually building expertise that cannot be easily replicated by competitors. However, users often lack clarity on how their data is being utilized. Nadella stressed that ownership of newly created knowledge should remain with the users and urged companies to build secure learning environments within their own cloud systems to safeguard their data and decision-making processes.
