Tesla has showcased a futuristic demonstration of its next-generation Roadster, bringing the concept of flying cars into the spotlight. The event took place on October 15, 2026, at a facility near SpaceX’s rocket testing site in Texas. During the demonstration, the electric sports car drove up a specially designed curved ramp, continued along it upside down and briefly took flight before landing safely. The spectacular manoeuvre was made possible by specialised systems developed in collaboration with SpaceX, including cold-gas thrusters. The demonstration marked a major moment for the long-awaited electric vehicle.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared a video of the demonstration on X, drawing widespread attention to the vehicle’s unusual capabilities. The display highlighted the potential of combining electric vehicle engineering with aerospace technology. However, the demonstration took place under controlled conditions, and the vehicle has not been established as suitable for routine flying on public roads. Tesla’s next-generation Roadster is expected to enter production in 2028, according to reports following the unveiling. Whether the technology can eventually be adapted for practical everyday transportation remains to be seen.
