Amid growing concerns among young professionals that the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) could lead to job losses in the software sector, Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy has offered reassuring remarks, stating that there is no need to fear AI as it is not a substitute for human capability.
In a recent interview, Murthy emphasized that “AI is merely a tool and can never replace human intellect and creativity.” He recalled that similar fears were expressed when computers were first introduced, yet technological advancements ultimately created more employment opportunities rather than eliminating them. He advised young professionals to embrace technological change instead of fearing it and to focus on upgrading their skills. According to him, learning to effectively use AI tools will ensure continued career growth and stability in the IT industry.
Murthy also revisited his earlier remarks advocating a 70-hour workweek, underscoring the importance of hard work combined with modern technological adoption. He expressed optimism that if India’s youth integrate strong work ethics with advanced technologies like AI, the country’s productivity could significantly improve, positioning India as a global leader in the years to come.
