WhatsApp has introduced new parental control features aimed at improving online safety for teenagers. Parents will receive alerts when their children join or leave a new group, while additional controls will be available for profile photos and group privacy settings. The new features are designed to give parents greater visibility and control over how their children use WhatsApp while maintaining the platform’s privacy protections.
Age-appropriate restrictions will also apply to teenagers’ use of Meta AI. WhatsApp said end-to-end encryption will continue to protect personal chats. Parents will have the flexibility to turn parental controls on or off based on their needs. The update is particularly important for parents whose children use WhatsApp, as it provides additional tools to support safer online communication.
