WhatsApp has introduced new features aimed at making group conversations easier to manage and more informative for members. Users can now transfer chat history from one group to another with a single tap, addressing long-standing complaints about not being able to view earlier messages when joining a group.
The new message history feature allows users to share the last 25, 50, 75, or 100 messages with newly added members, helping them quickly understand past discussions. A special label shows when the history was shared, and all participants receive a notification. The shared messages appear separately from regular chats for clarity while remaining end-to-end encrypted.
In addition, Meta Platforms is testing video calling support for the web version, which has so far required users to rely on desktop applications. The upcoming update, spotted in browser-based testing, is expected to enhance the overall experience by bringing calling features directly to web users.
