Meta has quietly introduced a new stand-alone social media app called ‘Forum’, designed around Facebook Groups and powered by AI-driven features. The app offers a Reddit-like discussion experience, allowing users to engage in deeper community conversations, browse group-based feeds and post using nicknames. Currently available only for iOS users in the United States, Forum integrates directly with Facebook Groups and displays posts from communities users are already part of.
One of Forum’s major highlights is its AI-powered ‘Ask’ feature, which provides answers by compiling discussions from various Facebook Groups while linking users back to original conversations. Group admins also receive AI moderation tools to manage communities more efficiently. The launch reflects Meta’s broader strategy of developing more stand-alone social apps, following recent releases like Instants. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly encouraged faster app development using AI-powered coding tools, signaling Meta’s aggressive push toward AI-driven social platforms.
