Meta has acquired the AI wearables startup Limitless, citing the social media giant's vision as a key factor behind the deal. Limitless, known for its AI-powered Pendant that continuously records nearby audio to help users find specific information via voice or text prompts, confirmed the acquisition but did not disclose financial details or structural changes. The startup is expected to retain some autonomy, and its brand and CEO Dan Siroker’s position will remain intact.
Siroker explained that the acquisition was aimed at scaling the technology and accelerating the production cycle of products leading toward personal superintelligence. He emphasized that both Meta and Limitless share a vision of bringing “personal superintelligence to everyone” and continuing to build AI-enabled wearables, indicating that Limitless-branded products will still be launched post-acquisition.
Regarding the AI Pendant and existing users, Limitless stated that no new devices will be sold, but current users will receive at least one year of free support and will be upgraded to the Unlimited Plan at no extra cost. Some non-Pendant features, like Rewind, will be sunset, and users will need to agree to updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Users can also export or delete their data if they choose not to continue using the device.
