Meta has reportedly started another major round of layoffs as the company aggressively shifts its focus toward artificial intelligence. Reports suggest that nearly 7,000 to 8,000 employees could be affected globally, with some workers in Singapore reportedly receiving termination emails as early as 4 AM local time. Employees across Europe and the United States are also expected to receive similar notifications based on their respective time zones.
The Mark Zuckerberg-led company is simultaneously moving thousands of employees into AI-focused roles while cutting costs in traditional business areas. Meta is also said to be eliminating around 6,000 open positions, taking the total number of impacted roles to nearly 14,000. Industry experts believe the move reflects a wider trend across the tech sector, where companies are heavily investing in AI infrastructure, automation and generative AI technologies.
