Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil its next-generation premium smartphone lineup, the iPhone 18 Pro series. Although the company has not officially confirmed the launch, industry reports suggest that a major event on September 9 could see the debut of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with a foldable iPhone, new Apple Watch models and AirPods. The Pro lineup is expected to bring significant changes in design, performance and features.
The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to feature new colour options such as Dark Cherry, Light Blue and Silver, while the traditional black shade could be dropped. The rear design and flat edges are likely to remain largely unchanged, but the Dynamic Island on the front could become smaller. The biggest performance upgrade is expected to be the A20 Pro chipset, reportedly built using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process and GAA technology. It is said to offer improved performance while consuming less power than the A19 Pro.
Battery capacity and connectivity could also receive major upgrades. The iPhone 18 Pro Max may reportedly feature a 5,425mAh battery in the eSIM version and a 5,235mAh battery in the physical-SIM variant. Apple is also expected to introduce its internally designed C2 modem, reducing its dependence on Qualcomm. The new modem could improve connectivity and power efficiency. The lineup may also support 5G satellite connectivity, allowing users to access internet services in areas without conventional cellular coverage.
The camera system is expected to receive an important upgrade with a variable-aperture lens that can adjust the opening depending on lighting conditions, similar to the human eye. This feature may be exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The phone is also expected to retain three 48MP rear cameras and an 18MP Center Stage front camera. The display could feature an advanced LTPO+ panel for improved power efficiency, while the Camera Control button may be simplified. With these upgrades, prices are reportedly expected to rise, with the iPhone 18 Pro potentially starting around $1,199 in the US and around ₹1,39,900 in India, while the Pro Max could start at approximately ₹1,54,900.
