OpenAI is reportedly preparing to enter the hardware space with its first AI enabled product, and a new leak suggests the device could be audio-focused earbuds. According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the earbuds may be called “Dime” and could serve as OpenAI’s initial step into consumer hardware before launching more advanced AI devices.
The leak claims that a patent filing linked to OpenAI has surfaced in China, revealing the product name. The company is said to be planning a phased rollout, beginning with a simpler earbuds model. A more powerful, phone-like AI device with greater computing capabilities may be delayed due to high component costs caused by a global HBM shortage, which has reportedly increased the bill of materials.
Meanwhile, OpenAI continues to expand its software offerings. The company recently launched GPT 5.3 Codex, a new agentic coding model available to all paid ChatGPT users worldwide. OpenAI says the model is 25 percent faster than its predecessor and capable of handling full software lifecycles, from building complex web games to managing documentation, research, and system monitoring.
