Google has introduced its next-generation AI-powered laptop, Googlebook, during the Android Show: I/O Edition 2026 event. Built with Gemini AI capabilities, the new laptop is expected to deliver an advanced AI-driven computing experience. The device will support Android apps automatically while also offering ChromeOS-based features. Although Google has not officially confirmed the operating system powering the device, the company stated that it has developed an advanced OS optimized for AI intelligence. Industry experts believe the Googlebook could emerge as a strong competitor to Apple’s MacBook lineup.
The Googlebook comes with several innovative AI features, including Magic Pointer and Create Your Widget. Developed by Google DeepMind, Magic Pointer is an AI-powered cursor that provides contextual suggestions based on cursor placement on the screen. Users can also create personalized widgets simply by entering prompts. Additionally, the Googlebook enhances connectivity between smartphones and laptops, allowing users to access phone files directly through the Google Bookmarks file browser. Notably, Google launched the device exactly 15 years after unveiling the first Chromebook in May 2011.
