Google has officially launched Nano Banana 2, its latest AI-powered image generation and editing tool built on the Gemini 3.1 Flash Image model. The new version delivers the Pro model’s high-quality output at significantly faster speeds. Nano Banana 2 replaces Nano Banana Pro across the Gemini 3 series Fast, Thinking, and Pro models in the Gemini app, while Pro and Ultra users can still access it for specialised tasks. The tool is now available in 141 new countries, including India, and supports additional languages across Search in AI Mode and Google Lens. It is also accessible via AI Studio, Gemini API, Vertex AI, Google Ads, and Flow, where it is now the default image model.
Google says Nano Banana 2 leverages Gemini’s advanced knowledge base and real-time web search capabilities to deliver improved subject-based rendering. The AI tool can generate detailed infographics, diagrams, and data visualisations with enhanced clarity. It is capable of producing precise and legible text for marketing campaigns, greeting cards, and promotional materials. Users can also translate and contextualise text within images seamlessly. Additionally, the model maintains strong character consistency for up to five subjects and visual accuracy for up to 14 objects within a single workflow.
Nano Banana 2 supports up to 4K resolution image generation, offering vibrant lighting, richer textures, and sharper details. Google highlights improved instruction-following capabilities, allowing the tool to better understand complex prompts and nuanced requests. With photorealistic output at high speed, Nano Banana 2 aims to set a new benchmark in AI image generation and editing.
