Google Maps has introduced ten new features in India, including artificial intelligence assistance, proactive traffic alerts, and several updates designed to make users’ experience easier and more convenient. The main highlight is the hands-free, conversational driving experience powered by AI, allowing users to ask multi-step questions about local places, electric vehicle charging stations, and even share their expected arrival time with friends—all while keeping their hands safely on the wheel.
Other significant updates include Proactive Local Tips, which provide real-time suggestions about destinations and routes, building on last year’s Inspirations feature. Proactive Traffic Alerts notify users about traffic jams, road closures, and delays, even when they are not actively navigating. For safety, Accident-Prone Area Alerts and Authoritative Speed Limits, powered by government data, have been introduced.
Additionally, Maps now supports Metro ticket booking, voice guidance for flyovers, and customizable two-wheeler navigation avatars, which are exclusive to India. These updates will gradually roll out to users in various cities, enhancing convenience, safety, and overall user experience.
