Apple products have a unique fan following across the world, with new iPhone launches generating significant excitement among technology enthusiasts. With expectations building around the iPhone 18 series, several lesser-known facts about Apple’s history, logo, the meaning of the letter ‘i’, co-founder Ronald Wayne and the 9:41 time featured in product advertisements have once again attracted attention. Apple’s first logo was designed by Ronald Wayne and depicted Isaac Newton under an apple tree, while the familiar bitten-apple logo was later designed by Rob Janoff. Steve Jobs also explained that the ‘i’ in iPhone represents five concepts: Internet, Individual, Instruct, Inform and Inspire.
Along with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, Ronald Wayne was one of Apple’s co-founders, but he sold his stake and left the company shortly after its formation. Apple’s use of dark posts on X to promote products and events is another distinctive practice. The 9:41 time frequently seen in advertisements for iPhones, iPads and MacBooks is linked to the timing of the original iPhone unveiling. Apple also acquired Siri, which was initially an independent app, in 2010 and integrated it into the iPhone. Another interesting fact is that the iPad did not have a dedicated Calculator app for nearly 14 years after its launch.
