India’s data center market has secured investment commitments exceeding 126 billion dollars, making it one of the fastest-growing infrastructure sectors in the country. However, experts warn that a shortage of skilled workforce could pose a major challenge to sustaining this growth. NLB Services CEO Sachin Alug stated that the expansion of data centers and AI infrastructure represents a significant national opportunity, offering large-scale employment prospects for the youth.
As digital transformation accelerates, there is rising demand for professionals skilled in AI infrastructure, cloud operations, automation, power systems, and critical facilities management. With the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence, roles in AI infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, MLOps, and data center automation are gaining importance. Reports indicate that nearly 30 percent of future data center capacity could be dedicated to AI workloads, increasing the need for specialized talent.
