Dario Amodei, CEO of AI company Anthropic, has warned that rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence could trigger a major employment crisis in the coming years. Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Amodei said AI systems are increasingly capable of performing tasks traditionally handled by entry-level white-collar employees. He explained that AI can now summarize documents, generate ideas, and prepare financial reports with remarkable efficiency, posing a significant threat to sectors such as finance, consulting, and technology.
Amodei stated that AI technology, which functioned at the level of a smart high school student two years ago, is now approaching the capabilities of an intelligent college graduate and advancing rapidly. He predicted that the effects of AI on the job market could become clearly visible within the next one to five years. Despite concerns, he said halting AI development is not feasible due to intense competition between American and Chinese companies. He advised professionals to improve their AI-related skills to remain relevant and added that governments may eventually consider imposing special taxes on AI companies to reduce economic inequality and support affected workers.
