OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Health, a dedicated space for healthcare conversations. The feature, currently in pilot testing, allows users to ask about test results, doctor appointments, diet, workouts and health insurance, offering a more cohesive experience. Users can connect third-party wellness apps like Apple Health, Function and MyFitnessPal and securely integrate electronic medical records.
ChatGPT Health separates health-related chats and connected files from regular chat history, with layered protections including encryption and data isolation. The AI helps users understand lab results, track health trends, discuss routines and compare insurance options, but it is not intended to diagnose or replace licensed medical care.
OpenAI emphasizes privacy: conversations and files are encrypted in transit and at rest, separate from other chat data and are not used to train AI models. Features like multi-factor authentication and chat deletion within 30 days further protect sensitive health information. Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s Applications CEO, described ChatGPT Health as a step toward making ChatGPT a personal super-assistant for managing all aspects of life.
