The Vatican has issued a global warning stating that rapid technological growth without preserving human values could disrupt social balance. On May 25, Pope Leo unveiled the encyclical titled “Magnifica Humanitas” at the Vatican auditorium. The event also featured Anthropic co-founder Christoph Oehler, who raised concerns over potential large-scale job losses due to artificial intelligence.
Oehler noted that AI is increasingly capable of performing tasks such as coding, content writing, and data analytics within seconds. He warned that millions could lose jobs due to AI expansion, making it the moral and social responsibility of governments to provide support. The encyclical also emphasizes protecting human rights and ethical values in the age of AI, cautioning that uncontrolled technological growth could lead to serious global consequences.
