Anthropic Introduces Rupee Pricing for Claude AI in India

AI startup Anthropic has introduced Indian rupee pricing for its Claude AI chatbot subscriptions, making its services more accessible to users in India. The update removes the need for Indian customers to pay in US dollars and avoids additional currency conversion charges. Under the revised pricing, Claude Pro is available at ₹2,000 per month with annual billing, Claude Max starts at ₹11,999 per month, and Claude Team is priced from ₹2,399 per user per month. Payments can currently be made through credit or debit cards, as well as Apple and Google app store billing, although UPI support is not yet available.

The pricing revision reflects Anthropic's expanding presence in India, which has become its largest market outside the United States, accounting for 5.8% of global Claude usage. Earlier this year, the company established its Bengaluru office, appointed Irina Ghose to lead its India operations, and partnered with Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to accelerate enterprise AI adoption. The move comes as global AI companies intensify competition in India's rapidly growing artificial intelligence market.
