Anthropic has launched new connectors and finance-focused skills for its AI assistant Claude, with the highlight being integration with Microsoft Excel. This allows users to access a Claude sidebar within Excel to analyze data, perform calculations, and automate financial tasks. The feature, currently in research preview, will be rolled out more broadly soon. The Excel integration builds on Claude’s existing connection with Microsoft 365, which already lets users search for files, emails, and Teams conversations. Claude for Excel is currently available in beta for Max, Enterprise, and Teams users.
Anthropic also introduced six new connectors that allow Claude to access third-party financial and business data. These connectors are built using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which standardizes how AI tools access external data sources. The supported platforms include Aiera, Chronograph, Egnyte, LSEG, Moody, and MT Newswires. In addition, the company has expanded its “Agent Skills” feature introduced earlier this month. These skills help Claude perform complex financial analyses like company valuations, due diligence, and earnings reviews. The six new skills include comparable company analysis, discounted cash flow models, due diligence data packs, company teasers and profiles, earnings analyses, and initiating coverage reports.
These updates mark a major step for Anthropic as it expands Claude’s role in financial analysis and business operations. The company aims to make AI-driven financial insights more transparent, efficient, and accessible for enterprise users.
