AI and Machine Learning Overtake Core CSE in AP Engineering Admissions

Engineering education preferences in Andhra Pradesh are showing a noticeable shift, with students increasingly choosing specialised technology courses over traditional computer science. The first phase of AP EAPCET counselling has been completed, with seats allocated across 247 engineering colleges. Of the 1,51,312 seats available under the convenor quota, 1,07,239 were filled, leaving 44,073 seats vacant.

Core CSE had 44,883 seats, of which 31,416 were filled, recording 69.99% occupancy. In comparison, CSE-AIML had 18,873 seats, with 15,819 filled, resulting in an 83.81% occupancy rate. CSE-AI and Data Science recorded 81.85% occupancy, while IT saw 79% and standalone AI and ML recorded 75%. ECE also remained a popular choice, with 74% of its seats filled. The trend suggests that students are increasingly considering AI, machine learning and data-driven courses in line with changing technology and career opportunities.
