Anthropic has launched Claude for Healthcare, a specialised AI toolkit designed for healthcare professionals and consumers seeking medical information. The offering is powered by the Claude Opus 4.5 AI model and includes chatbot support, third-party integrations and agent-based tools to streamline medical workflows. The launch comes shortly after OpenAI introduced ChatGPT for Healthcare.
The company stated that Opus 4.5 was developed with medical performance as a priority and demonstrated strong results in healthcare benchmarks. Claude for Healthcare allows access to third-party medical databases such as CMS, ICD-10 and the National Provider Identifier Registry, enabling accurate coverage checks, diagnosis coding, and report generation.
Anthropic has also introduced new agent tools that support healthcare data exchange standards and automated prior-authorisation reviews. These features aim to significantly reduce the time required for administrative tasks while remaining compliant with HIPAA regulations. Additionally, the platform can assist with appeals, patient communications, referrals and internal handoffs. Secure integrations now allow users to upload health records and lab reports, with broader Apple Health and Android Health connectivity rolling out through mobile apps.
