India’s road to the World Test Championship (WTC) final has become significantly tougher after the second Test against Sri Lanka ended in a draw. India currently sit fifth with 68 points and a 51.52% points percentage from 11 Tests, having recorded five wins, four losses and two draws. The team has seven Tests remaining two against New Zealand and five against Australia.
India now needs a near-perfect run in its remaining matches to strengthen its chances of reaching the final. Winning at least six of the remaining seven Tests would put the team in a strong position, although other results could still play a role. Australia currently lead the table with an 80% points percentage, followed by South Africa at 75%, New Zealand at 72.22% and Bangladesh at 55.56%.
