

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced that the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 will start on January 9, with the tournament running until February 5. Matches will be played in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, while the detailed match schedule is expected soon.
During the ongoing WPL Mega Auction in New Delhi, League Chairman Jayesh George revealed key venue details. The fourth season will begin at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, which also hosted the recent Women’s World Cup final. The final match of WPL 2026 will be held at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. In the previous editions, matches took place across Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Vadodara. The Mumbai Indians have won two of the three seasons so far, with RCB winning once.
The excitement around women’s cricket is at an all-time high following India’s recent Women’s ODI World Cup victory. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India defeated South Africa by 52 runs, with stellar contributions from Shafali Verma (87) and Deepti Sharma (58). At the WPL 2026 mega auction, Deepti Sharma fetched ₹3.20 crore, with UP Warriorz securing her in a record bid.
