India will embark on a lengthy tour of New Zealand immediately after the T20I series against the West Indies. The tour will feature five T20Is, five ODIs and a two match Test series. The BCCI has already announced the T20I squad, with star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah being rested. Reports now suggest that he may also be rested for the ODI series.
The move is reportedly aimed at managing Bumrah’s workload and keeping him fresh for the Test series. Although he is said to be fit, BCCI sources reportedly believe that resting him from the ODIs would be more beneficial than making him switch directly from limited overs cricket to the red ball format. The Test series against New Zealand is scheduled to begin on November 19.
