WAPL Auction Wrap: Hernita Pereira Tops the Bids

The first player auction of the Women’s Andhra Premier League (WAPL) concluded in Vijayawada, with four franchises finalising their squads. A total of 191 players registered for the auction, of whom 74 were picked by the teams. All-rounder Hernita Flavia Pereira emerged as the most expensive player, with Godavari Golden Eagles securing her for ₹4.30 lakh. Anjali Sarvani was the second-highest buy at ₹3.60 lakh, while Ayesha Singh fetched ₹2.40 lakh, with both players joining Vizag Firebirds.

Amaravati E Champions focused heavily on all-rounders and Grade-A players, assembling a squad featuring 11 all-rounders. Rayalaseema Gen Stars acquired Vemulapati Sethusai for ₹2.10 lakh and India-bound spinner Sri Charani for ₹1.10 lakh. Twelve-year-old Sai Shanmukhapriya is set to become the youngest player in the league and will represent Rayalaseema Gen Stars. The WAPL will begin on September 15 at ACA Stadium in Mangalagiri. League ambassador Mithali Raj, Andhra Pradesh Premier League Governing Council chairman Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao and ACA Director of Cricket Operations Kalyan Krishna were among those involved in the auction process.
