India’s star batter Virat Kohli could be on the verge of achieving a rare world record in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, reportedly scheduled to begin on November 4. A strong performance could make him the first batter to average more than 50 in ODIs in all four SENA countries South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia. Kohli currently averages 76.38 in South Africa, 51.48 in England and 50.03 in Australia. His average in New Zealand stands at 49.66, leaving him close to the milestone.
The number of runs Kohli needs to cross the 50-run average mark in New Zealand depends on how many times he is dismissed during the five-match series. According to the figures provided, he would need 254 runs if dismissed in all five innings, 204 runs if dismissed four times and not out once, or 154 runs if dismissed three times and not out twice. Kohli has already scored more than 15,000 runs in ODI cricket, with a career average of 58.79 and a strike rate of 94.37. His record also includes 55 centuries and 79 half-centuries. A strong series could add another remarkable achievement to his career.
