Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been issued a show-cause notice by the Wrestling Federation of India over allegations of indiscipline and violation of anti-doping regulations. She has been declared ineligible to compete in domestic events until June 26, including the upcoming National Open Ranking Tournament in Gonda.
The federation stated that she failed to complete the mandatory six-month notice period required after retirement before returning to competition. Her situation has drawn attention following controversies related to the Paris Olympics 2024 disqualification and earlier allegations involving former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The federation also claimed her actions have impacted the reputation of Indian wrestling.
