Young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavamshi once again grabbed headlines with a breathtaking performance in the opening match of the Under-19 Asia Cup. At just 14 years of age, Vaibhav played a fearless knock that left cricket fans in awe.
Batting with remarkable confidence, Vaibhav smashed 171 runs off 95 balls, including nine fours and an astonishing fourteen sixes. He brought up his century in just 56 deliveries, registering the most sixes ever hit by a batter in a single Under-19 innings.
Supported well by Aaron George (69) and Vihaan Malhotra (69), India posted a mammoth total of 433 for six the highest score ever by India in Under-19 ODIs. Vaibhav also became the highest-scoring Indian batter in youth ODIs after Ambati Rayudu’s 177 in 2002.
In reply, UAE struggled early, losing six wickets for just 53 runs. Udish Suri (78 not out) and Prithvi Madhu (50) added some resistance with an 85-run stand for the seventh wicket. However, UAE could only manage 199 for seven in 50 overs. Dipesh claimed two wickets as India sealed a commanding 234-run victory.
Vaibhav was named Player of the Match. India will face Pakistan in their next fixture on Sunday.
