The UP Warriors endured a disappointing season in the Women’s Premier League 2026. In their final league match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday, the team lost by 5 wickets. Out of eight matches this season, UP suffered six defeats, finishing at the bottom of the points table and exiting the tournament at the group stage. With this, UP Warriors have become the team with the most defeats in WPL history, losing 21 of their 33 matches so far, while Gujarat Giants follow with 20 losses. Analysts suggest significant changes are needed for the next season to improve performance.
After the match, UP captain Meg Lanning commented on the team’s performance: “We fought well till the end and created chances to win, but we couldn’t provide a strong start with the bat. Consistency was our main issue. Giri performed brilliantly behind the stumps and it will boost her confidence. Bowling three-over spells is rare, but I still enjoy playing cricket. I am trying to bring out the best in our players.”
