Virat Kohli has indicated that the 2027 ODI World Cup could be his final ICC tournament for India. After retiring from Test and T20I cricket, Kohli continues to represent India in ODIs. Ahead of the first ODI against West Indies, he reportedly said that the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia would be his final ICC tournament. He also expressed his determination to give everything on the field and help India win the title. The tournament is scheduled to be held in October and November 2027.

Kohli has continued to perform strongly in ODIs since the 2025 Champions Trophy. According to the figures provided, he has scored 760 runs in 12 ODIs at an average of 76, including three centuries and five half-centuries. Since the beginning of 2025, he has scored 1,035 runs at an average of 64.68. In his last 10 ODIs, he has also registered three centuries and seven half-centuries.
